Even before the outbreak of COVID-19, your dental team took great care to ensure that your risk of contracting an infection in the dental office was next to nothing. Now, they have an even stricter dental safety protocol in place. In this post, you will learn about just a few of the steps they are taking to ensure that you can attend your appointments with confidence that you are entering a safe environment.
Champions for Safety
The American Dental Association, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other reputable organizations provide guidelines on how dentists can prevent the spread of contagions in their offices. Your dental team has made it their business to understand and use such recommendations to the extent possible. They encourage each other to adhere to all applicable rules, even ones that may seem small or insignificant. They also offer patients friendly reminders on how they can help to ensure a safe dental office. They strive to be true champions for safety.
Daily Health Checks
Your dental team loves to see you and help you enjoy all the benefits of healthy teeth. However, they would never work if they suspected there was even a small chance that they could cause you to become ill. That is why they undergo a health screening every day before they start work. The screening includes a questionnaire and a contactless temperature check to assess whether they may have contracted COVID-19. Patients are required to undergo a similar screening prior to their appointments.
Changing Clothes at Work
In the “old days,” you might have occasionally seen members of your dental team wearing their scrubs when they were at the post office or grocery store. Now, you are much less likely to see that. Dental staff members now travel to work in their regular clothes, then change into freshly changed scrubs at the office. This precaution greatly reduces the risk that contagions will transfer to patients from a team member’s garments.
Rigorous Cleaning
Dental offices have always been some of the cleanest places in the community. That is truer now than ever. Your dental team cleans and disinfects all high-touch surfaces, including door handles, countertops, and reception chairs, at least three times each day. They also thoroughly clean the operatories between each patient and are diligent about ensuring that they use sterile instruments. Additionally, they may perform a deep cleaning of the office each evening after closing.
In this post, we have discussed just a few of the precautions that your dental team has in place to fight the spread of COVID-19. They are committed to protecting your health and safety!
